It has been over six years since I first started supplying Musket Cove with our Coffee Warehouse PNG Organic blend. I recently decided to take a trip to visit Musket Cove. There is definitely something about enjoying a cup of coffee that you have personally roasted while enjoying the beauty of a tropical Fijian island.
I flew out to Nandi airport where I was greeted with typical Fijian hospitality. It was then a quick boat trip through the Mamanuca Islands and out Malolo Lailai where Musket Cove Island Resort is located. The first thought I have when coming into musket cove with its coconut palms, lagoons and ocean views is, island paradise. My second thought is coffee…
My first cup was enjoyed at Musket coves new café The Trader. With views of the marina and a nautical theme the atmosphere was relaxing and menu delicious.
During my stay I took a tour of the resorts organic farm, the farm supplies fruit and vegetables to the islands café and restaurants and you can also purchase them from the Trader Market Store. The store can also supply you with fresh baked bread, chocolates and cheeses or even your Coffee Warehouse coffee.
I was lucky enough to be treated to a personal tour from the chef of Dicks Place Bar and Bistro to see the resorts two new Beehives. Fijian honey is unlike anything you have ever tried and is to be tasted to be believed. Sometimes the honey is so dark it almost appears black. With only tropical fruits such as mangoes and Jackfruit to pollinate the bees created and unique and delicious honey. If you are at Musket Cove see if you can take a look at the hives and view the interesting and creative way the locals protect the hives from cane toad attack, it is said that the toads will pile themselves up onto each others shoulders to get to the hives to eat the bees. On an interesting note production on the local plantations have increases since the arrival or the beehives.
Musket Cove has been designed with the yachter in mind with the deep water marina and yacht club. But with the food, walks, tours, water activities, fishing and great coffee from the Coffee Warehouse there is something for everybody.
I know I won’t be bored here with the islands many activities, but first another cup of coffee….
